The Quid Pro Quills
In the beginning God created the goose. From the goose, man extracted the quill.
The Quid Pro Quills are five women from across the United States who strive to use the quill for His glory.
“Iron sharpens iron, so one man (or Quid) sharpens another.” ~ Proverbs 27:17
Our History
Pegg Thomas went searching for a local critique group in the fall of 2011. She wanted face-to-face feedback to help her grow as a writer. Finding no such group in her rural area, she turned to the American Christian Fiction Writers and joined their Scribes critique group.
Scribes was a wonderful venue to learn about critiquing, but it was large and impersonal. Pegg found herself looking for submissions by certain writers that caught her eye. Robin Patchen and Jericha Kingston were two she read frequently and found herself engrossed in their stories. She approached them about starting a small group. They formed the group in April of 2012 and named it the Quid Pro Quills.
Together they hashed out some rules and discussed adding more members. Kara Hunt was a quick choice for the fourth Quid. She joined in May of 2012. Marge Wiebe became the fifth in September of 2012. At this point, they thought they were done. Then Robin introduced Candice Patterson in January of 2013 and they were a half-dozen strong.
In May of 2015 Marge Wiebe made the decision to step away from the Quids. She felt led to focus her time and energy on her family. We let her go with a heavy heart, trusting God was leading her down the path she needed to follow.
In January of 2016, Jodie Wolfe stepped in to fill the 6th Quid spot.
