I spent the greater part of today trying to decide if a story idea was worth writing. It seemed like a good idea at first. Then I wrote out a few sentences. And read them. And dithered over whether or not they were good.
Deciding their were passable, I wrote a few more sentences. Changed a couple of the first sentences. Renamed a character. Decided it was all terrible.
I did a little period research. Revisited what I’d written. Changed the season. Added some setting. Decided it wasn’t too bad.
Then I did what any good critique group member does. I sent it off to my fellow critters and asked them if it was worth developing further. Because – well – without their input I’d probably sit here and dither on for another week or so.
Critique partners. Priceless.
