I love camping. Hubby and I bought a new camper last fall, and we’re enjoying it every weekend we can get away. There’s nothing like sitting around the campfire, toasting marshmallows, and listening to the nightlife of nature come awake. There’s only one thing missing. A dog.
We’ve taken the new camper to five different state parks in Michigan. It’s the same scenario everywhere we go. We’re the only campers without a dog.
Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and colors parade around the state parks. Some sport cute little bandanas. Some carry around a favorite toy. Some stop and pee on every post in the park. And some bark at everyone who walks by. Okay, I can live without the yappy kind.
It’s not that we don’t have dogs. We have two of them, in fact. But the 11-year-old Saint Bernard doesn’t fit in the camper and the 12-year-old Border Collie is too neurotic to take to a state park, or anywhere else for that matter. She also hates – HATES – riding in the truck.
So what to do, what to do…
